Long-term care (LTC) policies are intended to help individuals, especially those up in age, with daily living or personal care activities, such as getting dressed, bathing or feeding themselves, when they can no longer perform such activities themselves without assistance.
LTC can be provided at home or in a nursing facility. A LTC policy must provide coverage for at least 12 consecutive months.
Some policies cover all levels of care, while others only cover a specific level of care. Long Term Care policies that cover all levels of care provide more advantages for the insured.
